Railway Operators in Montenegro

ZCG - Zeljeznica Crne Gore a.d. Podgorica

Network length, gauge and electrification (2009):

ZCG operates the railways in the new state of Montenegro. The main line runs from Vrbnica (border with Serbia) to Bar, with branch lines from Podgorica to Niksic and the border with Albania. Currently there is no passenger service on the branch lines, actually the line to Albania never had any passenger trains. Podgorica-Niksic is now modernised and electrified (2012).

The locomotives were divided in 2012 between passenger operator ZCG and freight operator Montecargo. In 2017, 51% of Montecargo was sold to OT Logistics from Poland.

Montecargo

Network length, gauge and electrification (2017):

In 2017 51% of freight operator Montecargo was sold to OT Logistics from Poland. This company also obtained 30% of port operator Luka Bar.
But... in June 2017 there were messages in the media that Montecargo and Luka Bar were not (partly) sold after all and still in the hands of the state.
