Network length, gauge and electrification (2009):
- 250km standard gauge, 225km electrified at 25kV 50Hz
ZCG operates the railways in the new state of Montenegro. The main line
runs from Vrbnica (border with Serbia) to Bar, with branch lines from
Podgorica to Niksic and the border with Albania. Currently there is no
passenger service on the branch lines, actually the line to Albania
never had any passenger trains. Podgorica-Niksic is now modernised
and electrified (2012).
The locomotives were divided in 2012 between passenger operator ZCG and
freight operator Montecargo. In 2017, 51% of Montecargo was sold to
OT Logistics from Poland.

This company also obtained 30% of port operator Luka Bar.
But... in June 2017 there were messages in the media that Montecargo
and Luka Bar were not (partly) sold after all and still in the hands of
