Small part of the Turkish railway network is located in Europe, from Istanbul to tho border with Greece and Bulgaria. The rest of the network is on the Asian continent.
In 2005 76.3 million passengers travelled with TCDD over 5 billion passenger-km. Freight traffic amounted 19.2 million tonnes and 9.15 billion tonne-km.
