ALLk.jpg (122617 bytes)

The ALL sign by the signal means that the push-loc (needed because of the steep 3‰ grade of Ans , the push-loc is a SNCB type 22 , but is not coupled to the trainset.Once it has pushed the type 13 locomotive above the grade of Ans , it brakes at Ans , and turns around to drive back to Liege-Guillemins for the next IC A-train) is ready... View on signal C 8 alongside Line 50 (Brussel Noord - Gent Sint Pieters). This signal covers the switch for the left overtaking track, which flows into Line 50 just before Schellebelle station. This is one of the few remaining 1960s style signals on the Belgian network, and still dates from the electrification of Line 50 in 1961.They can be recognised by their heavy pole model.

Signal at Leuven

This is signal DX-L9 at the end of platform 4 of Leuven station. On top we see the actual signal , which gives a red aspect.Below the signal we see first another light : this is a white light and when it's illuminated , the signal works as an automatic signal and can be passed after the necessary formalities. When the light is dark , the signal is controlled by the signal box and cannot be passed unless permission from the signaller is given.

The sign 'I>12' means that there will follow a ramp of more than 12% , the sign 'DX-L9' is the signal's number. The 'TBL' sign means that this signal can give access to a line equipped with the TBL-2 system. (here HSL2)

The box with the red 'T' contains a telephone where the driver can call with the signalbox. The 'H' sign in the background of the picture is the outer point of where a train should stop at the platform.
On the far right of the picture we can see a sign with a red circle : this means that this is the outer point of the platform where passengers may come.

Leuven , 27/06/2005.
