Dresden Hauptbahnhof, the main facade of the station seen from the
eastern building. Built 1892 to 1895, damaged 1945, rebuilt 1949 in
a simplified shape. Today much of the building is not in such a good
state; an extensive rebuilding according to plans of Sir Norman Foster
will take place in the next years. January 2001.

Dresden Hauptbahnhof, west end of the hall. The tracks in the big hall
(in the middle) are several metres lower than those in the foreground
and background. In the next years it can be expected to have an ugly
building site here at first, with the result of a much brighter hall
once it's finished. January 2001.

Dresden Hauptbahnhof will receive a new membrane roof above the platforms.
This sign was recently put up in front of the station's entrance; it shows
the shape of the new roof. The carrying structures will remain the same as
today. 2001-03-14
