'Tractor' at Chingford! There I was walking into the station having just parked the car when I was greeted by first
the sound and then the nose of a class 37 as it came to halt at the stops on platform 2...20 minutes earlier than we
had expected them! DRS's 37609 had brought in the Serco Test Train...a first appearence for DRS at the station
and a rare loco appearence there. The date the 23rd June 2006.

37605 is shortly to return to Derby with the Serco Test Train. Pictured at the end of possibly London's shortest branch

The 37 is one of five sold to DRS from European Passenger Services. One of the Eurostar Class 37's seen at Clapham Junction, seen mid-July. This is unusual as a pair is normally berthed at Clapham Junction, this is an 'odd one'.

DRS 37610 heads north through Harrow on July 14th 2005 with a Serco Test Train.
However in the background smoke can be seen rising from a large fire at a plastics factory
which is clearly very close to the site of the new Wembley Stadium as the arch can also be seen
in the picture taken by James.

Now when this pair of 'Tractors' 37604 and 37603 appeared round the bend
it was virtually total silence! What could be wrong? This was not what we
expected from a Eurostar drag pictured as it ran into West Brompton on
the 26th May 2005.

Since the run down of the EWS class 37 fleet DRS 37s regularly find themselves on Serco duties...we are pleased to see!
Here 37611 brings up the rear of the Test Train as it runs through Dudding Hill Junction on a freight only line in the NW
London suburbs on the 28th February 2006.

The 37s have come to a halt to let a crew member off...and as a
result we are treated to some real 'Tractor racket' as 37603 and 37604 set
off in the direction of Kensington Olympia and home. GREAT STUFF! The EPS
locos have been out on a Eurostar drag excercise and are seen here at West Brompton
on May 26th 2005.

Class 37 698 "Coedbach" with an empty MGR train heads towards the Taff-Bargoed mine complex (South Wales) in Spring 1989. The loaded train would return to Aberthaw power station. The locomotive is seen in Railfreight coal colours and the "Ram" symbol indicating its allocation to Cardiff Canton depot. The mines would close a few year after the photo was taken. So good we just had to see them again! This time the venue is that old favourite
Kensington Olympia with 37604 leading 37603 on a second Eurostar drag around Kent.
The date is Tuesday 31st May 2005.

Looking a bit sorry for itself EPS's 37601 is seen heading back to the Eurostar base at
North Pole. Class 37s are no longer a regular sight around London so this unexpected
appearence at Kensington Olympia on May 16th 2005 was nice surprise.

Well its a good thing these 'Tractors' make such a racket as I might not have heard them approaching when looking in
the opposite direction! 37607 assisted by 37608 on the rear THRASH through Stratford in quite splendid fashion
on a late running Serco Test Train on the 13th February 2007. If it was not for DRS we would very seldom see
these superb old locos dating from the early 1960s in action nowadays. The few remaining EWS class 37 4s
are virtually always to be found in Scotland and only tend to to be seen in the south on the occasional rail tour.

This has to be the most unlikely London to Norwich service train for years!
In fact the last time a class 37 took a service train to Norwich is reported
to be way back in 1992! Problems with 90006 and an apparent difficulty in finding
an available driver who signs 47s led to this situation. DRS 37606 takes the
1500 Liverpool Street to Norwich through Stratford on the 5th March 2005.
Arrival at Norwich was only 4 minutes down on class 86/90 timings with the class 37
turning in a superb performance for this historic run.
