First Great Western Class 158 DMU 158747 in a livery celebrating the bicentenary of rail travel and centenary of the first 100mph locomotive in 2004. This livery was first applied by Wessex Trains, although their branding has been removed by FGW nothing else has been changed (yet?).

First Great Western Class 158 DMU 158747 in a livery celebrating the bicentenary of rail travel and centenary of the first 100mph locomotive in 2004. This livery was first applied by Wessex Trains, although their branding has been removed by FGW nothing else has been changed (yet?). Here the unit is seen heading eastbound from Bristol Parkway with a service to Cheltenham Spa.

A long line of Wessex DMUs at Bristol Temple Meads platfom 7. 158745 closest to the camera is coupled to a Class 153 unit, these units spent a good couple of hours stabled here. A few feet further up the platfom is a Class 158/9 unit on a Cardiff-Portsmouth Harbour (or vice versa) service. It stopped so close to the Class 153 that I initially thought they were going to be coupled to form a 6-car train, although why a 153 would be inlcuded I don't know as it would lower the top speed from 90pmh to 75mph.
