Wessex Trains Class 158/9 DMU 158961 en route to Portsmouth Harbour waits at the top of the incline from the Patchway Tunnel to let a westbound First Great Western HST on an intercity service to South Wales through Patchway junction. I am not certain why this signal is not at the opposite (southern) end of Patchway station, as this would allow more trains to call here (although it has had to stop anyway, this service will not call at the station).
