150 YEARS OF RAILWAY HISTORY. On August 19th 2006 London Underground's Central Line from Leyton to Loughton was 150 years old and therefore forms the oldest part of the Tube network. This is Snaresbrook...another station that still retains its 19th Century Victorian heritage...with a city bound train about to make its stop.

gb-tube-stone-jp.jpg (131847 bytes)

Leytonstone Station is an important one on the eastern section of London Tubes Central Line. Ahead trains either branch off left and run underground for a number of stations on the Hainault branch or go straight on taking the line to Epping which was originally steam and remains entirely above ground. The train approaching is a westbound London service off the Epping branch. Pictured on the 2nd September 2004.
