gb-NET-depotjunction02.jpg (163280 bytes)

The junction south of Wilkinson Street tram stop that gives access to the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram depot for northbound trams. Through the Hyson Green area of the city, the northbound and southbound routes follow different streets. As the northbound route is to the east of the southbound this entails right-hand running, unlike the left-hand running that is common to the rest of the system. The crossing in the foreground is the northern switch point.

The junction south of Wilkinson Street tram stop, visible in the middle distance, that gives access to the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram depot for northbound trams. Through the Hyson Green area of the city, the northbound and southbound routes follow different streets. As the northbound route is to the east of the southbound this entails right-hand running, unlike the left-hand running that is common to the rest of the system. The crossing in the foreground is the northern switch point.

The 10 in a diamond sign on the left indicates the maximum speed for trams heading to the depot is 10km/h.

gb-NET-signs1.jpg (131306 bytes)

Signs for the Wilkinson Street tram park and ride car park and alerting cyclists of a route that avoids the tram tracks. At the first set of traffic lights the southbound trams leave the segregated way to the left of the fence and commence a stretch of on-street running where the line of cars in the distance is. The northbound trams arrive at the junction from a different street not visible on this photograph, and have a dedicated contraflow lane to the left of that for left-turning traffic.

The horizontal white bar above the traffic light is the tram signal, where the orientation of the bar determines its state:
  • – Stop (equivalent of red)
  • • Caution (equivalent of amber)
  • | procede ahead (green straight ahead arrow)
  • \ procede left (green left arrow)
  • / procede right (green right arrow)
