Collegamento_Nord.jpg (86490 bytes)

On this place, between the stations Imperia Porto Maurizio and the closed San Lorenzo-Cipressa, the new section of the railway line Genova - Ventimiglia leaves the seashore and enters a very long tunnel; only the new station TAGGIA ARMA is on the daylight; San Remo has now just an underground stop, very far away from the seashore. The new railway section has a double track and the trains run much quicker than before. But, I prefer the romantic travels on the seashore! I hate the new tunnel railway! It's awful! Always when I see this place I begin to cry.

Collegamento_Sud.jpg (38053 bytes)

On this place, between the stations Bordighera and the closed Ospedaletti Ligure, the new section of the railway line Ventimiglia - Genova leaves the seashore and enters a very long tunnel; the seashore railway was closed on September 24, 2001. Only the new station TAGGIA ARMA is now on the daylight; San Remo has now just an underground stop, very far away from the seashore. The new railway section has a double track and the trains run much quicker than before. But, I prefer the romantic travels on the seashore! I hate the new tunnel railway! It's awful! Always when I see this place I begin to cry; I stop crying when the trains leaves the tunnel again and when it continues to run on the seashore - shortly before Imperia Porto Maurizio. The section Imperia Porto Maurizio - Finale Ligure Marina is still on the seashore. But, in a few years it will be also transferred into a long tunnel and the whole seashore railway line will be definitively closed.

On this track between the stations TAGGIA ARMA and SANTO STEFANO-RIVA LIGURE on the Riviera dei Fiori (The Flower Riviera) in Italy were running trains until 21.09.2001; last year on the same day I passed here by train; this summer I was crying because the spectacular seeshore railway was closed.
