BUCHAREST- ROMANIA Basarab railway station (Romanian: Gara Basarab) in Bucharest is situated near the city's main station, Gara de Nord. Built in 1959 to handle a share of the main station's traffic and mainly used by short-distance commuter trains run by C.F.R. (National Railway Company), it is often considered to be an annex of Gara de Nord, to which it is linked by a footbridge (in CFR timetables the station is referred to as "Bucuresti Nord Gr. B"). Basarab railway station is served directly by the Bucharest Metro system, via Basarab metro station. The access to the Metro station can also be used to cross the tracks that lead to Gara de Nord, without paying a fare, as it also has an access way on the other side of the tracks.

CFR - Blee type coach modernised by Alstom-Romania SA and the CFR Grivita Workshops, Bucharest North. Because of high ticket prices and low traveller turnout, CFR has decided to lower the rankings of its train types and modernise them so that they may become more frequented and in pace with the rest of Europe. Therefore ICE trains have now become IC, IC trains Rapid, Rapid has become Accelerat and Personal still Personal. This is the livery of modernised Rapid Trains, ex-IC.
