Network length, gauge and electrification (2006):

AZP manages the Slovenian rail infrastructure. It does not operate its own locomotives or track maintenance trains (these are operated by SZ).
The line Pragersko-Ormoz-Hodos (relation Ljubljana-Budapest, 110km) was upgraded and electrified in recent years, opening in June 2016.

SZ operates all passenger trains in Slovenia, and most of the freight trains in the country.

In 2013 16.4 million passengers travelled with SZ, 5.9% more than in 2012. Freight transport amounted 17.6 million tonnes, 9.1% more than in 2012.

Adria Transport is the first real private railway in Slovenia, operating mainly open-access freight trains between the port of Koper and Austria. Adria Transport is a subsidiary of the Graz-Köflacher Bahn from Austria.
